A rising artist in the impressionist art scene, Mithu Biswas has been practicing contemporary Art for around 7 years. She works with unusual ideas and concepts in her painting. Born in Kolkata in the state of West Bengal in 1979, she was fond of art since childhood. She did her graduation in Fine Art from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in 2004. In 2009 she moved to Maharashtra, and permanently set up a studio in Mumbai.
Ever since moving to Mumbai, Mithu’s subject of painting has gone through a transformation. So while she still paints in the modern art style, she creates different textures using acrylic on canvas. The materials that she uses are not the only things that have changed; everything from the composition surrounding her to the consumer culture is different, which has inspired her to use stronger colours than previously used.
When she was in college, Mithu had started showcasing her work at a group exhibition in Kolkata in 1998, and few years later at various shows around the India. Mithu has always been lauded for her versatility and Middle Eastern inspired art skills. In 2014, she had couple of sponsor group shows held nationally and internationally.
